Elizabeth Palmer

Elizabeth Palmer is a largely self-taught artist, who also did a degree program at the University of NH .  Although she has done acrylics, oils, and egg tempera, her medium of choice is watercolor.

Elizabeth paints mostly still life and landscapes (primarily of mid-coast Maine).   Her work is in private collections throughout the United States, and her “Kayaks” is in the permanent collection at The Boston Children’s Hospital.  She has participated in numerous shows in NH and Maine, most recently the “Best of Maine 2016” sponsored by the Boothbay Regional Art Foundation, where in 2013 she earned an Honorable Mention for her watercolor, “Blue Door, and in 2016 one for “Decadence.”  Two of her paintings have been featured in the calendar produced by Families First of Portsmouth, NH.

She is currently a member of BRAF in Boothbay Harbor, and River Arts in Nobleboro,.   In Damariscotta, ME, she has exhibited at 136 gifts, the Damariscotta River Grill, Pemaquid Watershed Association, Skidhompha Library, the Kefauver Studio, Miles Memorial Hospital, Savory Maine, and the First National Bank. She has also shown her work at Atlantic Motorcar in Wiscasset, and Poppies in Brooklin, ME.  She  currently exhibits at Ingram Antiques & Art in Wiscasset, and the Saltwater Gallery at Pemaquid Point.

Elizabeth uses vibrant color, play of light against dark, and intricate detail, to portray her subject matter.  She will paint anything that catches her eye and elicits an emotional response.  Her goal is to take something quite ordinary, and through her painting, raise it to the extraordinary.
