A little history; we are a very old artists cooperative - over 50 years and counting! The cooperative began in 1967 as the Waldoboro Gallery Association. During 1996 and 1997 it operated as the Medomak River Gallery before moving into the old Driftwood Shop on Pemaquiid Point in 1998. Under a new name, the Saltwater Artists rented with an option to buy and purchased the property in1999. We have been here ever since!

The Mission of the Saltwater Artists Gallery is:

  • to establish a cooperative and supportive spirit for both established and emerging artists
  • to provide exhibition opportunities to our membership and visiting artists
  • to foster an appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts in the community through exhibitions and educational events
  • to support and mentor young artists and school art programs through scholarships and educational opportunities
