Nicole Sorum

Nicole is a self-taught artist, born and raised in Northern California, and was artistic throughout her childhood.  After high school, she enlisted and served 4 years in the US Navy.  Then life happened as it does... work, marriage, children… and art took a back seat for nearly 30 years before she began painting again.

Nicole moved to Maine in 2001 when her spouse received orders to Naval Air Station Brunswick.  Although she has lived all over the country, she feels especially blessed to call Maine home. Nicole finds inspiration in the beauty of Maine’s working waterfronts, coastal communities, country landscapes, nature, and occasionally a Emperor penguin because, well, they’re her favorite!  She feels most natural painting with acrylics in the style of realism; however, she recently discovered her love of abstract and will be exploring much more this winter to have available for the 2023 season!

Nicole is a member of the International Guild of Realism (IGOR), Meetinghouse Arts Gallery in Freeport, Lemont Block Collective in Brunswick, and Saltwater Artists Gallery in New Harbor.
