SALTWATER ARTISTS GALLERY OF NEW HARBOR TO HOST FIRST ANNUAL ‘PLEIN AIR DAY AT PEMAQUID POINT’ ON SATURDAY, JULY 22
More than 20 Area artists to Convene to ‘Paint the Point’ This Summer!
New Harbor, ME, June 1, 2023 – Saltwater Artists Gallery, a cooperative of more than 25 juried artists, is excited to host the first annual “Plein Air Day at Pemaquid Point” on Saturday, July 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will invite more than 20 artists from around the Region to paint a vista of their choosing in and around Pemaquid Point. The day will also feature an awards ceremony judged by highly regarded artist J.C. Airoldi (a member of the prestigious Guild of Boston Artists) and an onsite “wet paint” sale.
“From our iconic light house to rock formations millions of years in the making, there is nothing more synonymous with summer than the beauty of Pemaquid Point and artists painting incredible works in this incredibly beautiful environment,” said Lynne Thompson, President of the Saltwater Artists Gallery. “We are excited about the response to the very first event and hope it becomes an annual summer tradition at Pemaquid Point.”
The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. and continue until awards judging at 4:30 p.m. A “wet paint” sale of works available (as they are completed) at a tent set up adjacent to the Seagull Shop (at Pemaquid Point). The Rain-date for the event is Sunday, July 23.
Sponsors for this year’s event include: The Sea Gull Shop - the iconic gift shop and restaurant at Pemaquid Point (the Sea Gull Shop will host an artist breakfast to kick off the day); Citizen Maine Home – a popular lifestyle boutique (gifts, children’s apparel, table top offerings, bed and bath items) in downtown Damariscotta; and Damariscotta’s WEATHERBIRD – a specialty boutique, bottle shop and bakery.
