SALTWATER ARTISTS GALLERY OF NEW HARBOR HOSTED ITS FIRST ANNUAL ‘PLEIN AIR DAY AT PEMAQUID POINT’ ON SATURDAY, JULY 22
More than 20 Area artists to Convene to ‘Paint the Point’ This Summer!

Saltwater Artists Gallery, a cooperative of more than 25 juried artists, hosted its first annual “Plein Air Day at Pemaquid Point” on Saturday, July 22. Around twenty artists from Maine and points south convened, despite fog and sprinkles, to paint a vista of their choosing in and around Pemaquid Point. Click here for local news coverage.
The event kicked off at 9:30 a.m. with a breakfast at the Seagull Restaurant. A “wet paint” sale of works was available (as they were completed) at our command tent set up at the Seagull. Eventually the sun did come out. The parking lot at the lighthouse park was full, and many summer visitors and locals enjoyed watching the artists at work and talking with them. A good time was had by all!

The day ended at 4:30 with an awards ceremony judged by highly regarded artist J.C. Airoldi (a member of the prestigious Guild of Boston Artists). Three awards were given:
1st Place $100: Jeanne Pierce, Townsend, MA
2nd Place $50: Cheryl Hughes, Clinton, MA
3rd Place $25: Jacob Taplin, Gorham, ME
The “wet paint” sale will continue at the Saltwater Artists Gallery for the balance of the season or until all work is sold.
