About Our Gallery

The not-for-profit Saltwater Artists Gallery is an adventure in the arts.

The gallery is a non-profit which is owned and operated by the membership. Each summer, approximately twenty-five jury-selected artists exhibit. They work in every medium: painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, woodturning, glass, jewelry, and pottery. The gallery shares an eclectic mix with the visiting public and hosts several events throughout the season.

A little history; we are a very old artists organization - over 50 years and counting! The artists’ community organization began in 1967 as the Waldoboro Gallery Association. During 1996 and 1997 it operated as the Medomak River Gallery before moving into the old Driftwood Shop on Pemaquid Point in 1998. Under a new name, the Saltwater Artists rented with an option to buy and purchased the property in 1999. We have been here ever since!

The mission of the Saltwater Artists Gallery is:

• to establish a collaborative and supportive spirit for both established and emerging artists

• to provide exhibition opportunities to our membership and visiting artists

• to foster an appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts in the community through exhibitions and educational events

• to support and mentor young artists and school art programs through scholarships and educational opportunities

• to assist our long term members in remaining active artists,             despite age or illness, by providing them with assistance and reduced gallery responsibilities
