Sarah Greenier

Summering on Orr's Island gave me a special appreciation for Maine coast living. I graduated from Oak Grove School in Vassalboro, Maine and went on to study graphic design at Pratt Institute in New York. After college, I returned to Maine and worked as a commercial artist and art director for 10 years before becoming a full-time painter.

In 1996 my husband, Tom and I began exhibiting and selling my paintings at outdoor art shows throughout New England, where I won many awards. Then, in 2006 we opened the Greenier Gallery next to our home in Bath, where we currently exhibit our paintings, paint and teach.

We both enjoy outdoor painting, so it's been a pleasure painting along the coast together. We have taken annual painting trips to Monhegan, Acadia and Stonington, as well as Provence, France.

I most enjoy painting quintessential Maine scenes. I find that painting outdoors breathes life into my work, being out in the Maine sea air, taking in all the sounds and smells of our surroundings and mother nature, is about as close to perfection and inspiration as it gets.

I exhibit at Saltwater Artists Gallery in New Harbor, Meetinghouse Arts Gallery in Freeport, Nickels-Sortwell House Museum in Wiscasset, as well as Greenier Gallery in Bath.
